The Appalachian Trainer Face Off

Heart of Phoenix is West Virginia's largest, most effective 501(c) 3 equine advocacy organization covering Appalachia.  Heart of Phoenix found through necessity that it was essential to create innovative ways to get a large number of horses trained and adopted each year on a small budget.

Their answer to this was the Appalachian Trainer Face Off (ATFO), a training competition that began in 2017.

Each trainer selects a horse and has 100days to train and then present their results in the hopes that their partner horse will be adopted. Samara has competed in the ATFO for the last 5 years.  Follow along on her 2024 100day journey with her partner Mara below in our blog! #hopteammara
